I Hope They Call Me on a Mission

I sat at the kitchen counter this morning with my mix of mini-wheats and honey nut cheerios, preparing to watch general conference. I didn't expect a life changing announcement. To my surprise, Thomas S. Monson announced that young men could now serve missions at age 18, effective immediately. In anticipation I hoped that he would announce a change in the girls age, possibly 20 years old instead of 21, but when he announced that girls could now serve missions at age 19, I was overwhelmed. My 19th birthday is tomorrow.  I immediately called my mom...and just cried. We both cried. My mom said that as soon as she heard she knew what I was going to do.
Heavenly Father truly has a way of guiding us if only we are willing to listen. For the last couple of weeks I have had an awful pit in my stomach when I had considered to transfer for a Radiology Tech program at Weber State. I had had confirmation that I should not transfer and stay at BYU, but I did not know what major I would choose.  I have been so confused on what to major in and what I need to do. I had previously said that if I could go on a mission now- I would! But now this is a real option. It's a reality- where I will be on my birthday in a year has completely changed.

  2. My little Sarah. You have always been wise beyond your years and I'm glad you don't have to wait for twenty-one. I love, Dad.
