Please keep your child on a leash...

Airports. Fantastic place to people watch. The trip home is just beginning and the greatest thing so far is the lady with her kid on the leash. I wonder who came up with the awful idea of having a kid on a leash. This woman is quite frazzled as she tries to juggle a number of things as well as her child. Her child is crying as she practically drags him to the front of the boarding line by a leash, and the bald guy next in line grimaces as he dreads the long flight ahead. I know I shouldn't be judging...but comparing this woman to the mother next to her who is juggling two children- one she is holding in her arms, and the other she is holding by the hand, and both kids are quiet and relatively happy- I think a little love goes a long ways in this situation. Now I know I don't have kids, and by all means, travelling in a stressful airport with kids sounds like nothing short of hell...but with a little patience I think if your calm, your kids will be calm. Dragging them by the leash is only going to make them more stressed and resistant. Now this next comparison may sound totally irrelevant--by if your going to treat your kids like livestock by putting them on the leash I might as well make the comparison...so here it goes. I thought of trying to lead a horse when I saw this lady- when you pull by the end of the lead rope and continue to pull as hard as you can, the horse will be very resistant, but if you take the lead rope directly where the halter meets the lead rope you're going to be a whole lot more successful. SO moral of the story- putting your kid on a leash seems to only cause more problems- this maybe old fashion but show a little love and maybe try holding their hand?
